Guided bone regeneration of chronic non‐contained bone defects using a volume stable porous block TiO2 scaffold: An experimental in vivo study

چکیده

Objectives To evaluate new lateral bone formation and volume augmentation by guided regeneration (GBR) in chronic non-contained defects with the use of a non-resorbable TiO2-block. Materials methods Three buccal were created each hemimandible eight beagle dogs allowed to heal for 8 weeks before treatment GBR. Each was randomly allocated 4- or 12-week healing time after GBR, three intervention groups assigned block randomization: TiO2 block: TiO2-scaffold collagen membrane, DBBM particles: Deproteinized bovine mineral (DBBM) Empty control: Collagen membrane only. Microcomputed tomography (microCT) used measure width augmentation. Histological outcomes included descriptive analysis histomorphometric measurements. Results MicroCT demonstrated increasing from 4 12 healing. The greatest mineralized seen empty controls, largest observed sites. particles more grafted area than blocks, but small amounts less control Conclusion blocks rendered also compared particles. most outward defect margins indicating that presence either graft material leads slow appositional growth.

Guided bone regeneration: A literature review

Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is a reconstructive procedure of alveolar ridge using membranes. This procedure is indicated when there is no sufficient bone for implantation, or in the case of optimal implant installation for esthetic or functional needs. GBR can be performed before implant placement, when there is not enough bone for initial stability of implants and less predictable outcomes ...

Development of an antibacterial porous scaffold for bone defect treatment

Background & Aim: The use of bone scaffolds is one of the new and efficient techniques for repairing bone defects that provide a suitable platform for cell proliferation and growth to repair the target tissue. One of the most important causes of failure of transplants and surgical procedures is the invasion of bacteria at the site of the complication and the development of severe infection. The...

In vivo experimental study on bone regeneration in critical bone defects using PIB nanogels/boron-containing mesoporous bioactive glass composite scaffold

PURPOSE In the present study, the fabrication of novel p(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-butyl methylacrylate) (PIB) nanogels was combined with boron-containing mesoporous bioactive glass (B-MBG) scaffolds in order to improve the mechanical properties of PIB nanogels alone. Scaffolds were tested for mechanical strength and the ability to promote new bone formation in vivo. PATIENTS AND METHODS To ev...

Guided bone regeneration (GBR) on healing bone defects: a histological study in rabbits.

In this study, the effects of guided bone regeneration (GBR) on the healing of bone defects were evaluated. Resorbable membranes were placed in experimentally formed cavities in the right posterior tibia of 30 rabbits. Decalcified histological sections were evaluated using optical microscopy at 10, 20, and 30 days after GBR. Osteocondrial bone union, active bone formation and spongiosal bone fo...

In vitro and In vivo Investigation of poly(lactic acid)/hydroxyapatite nanoparticle scaffold containing nandrolone decanoate for the regeneration of critical-sized bone defects

Objective(s): Bone tissue engineering is aimed at the fabrication of bone graft to ameliorate bone defects without using autografts or allografts. Materials and Methods: In the present study, the coprecipitation method was used to prepare hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles containing nandrolone. To do so, 12.5, 25, and 50 mg of nandrolone were loaded into poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/nano-HA, a...
